Walking along the fence
in sheer delight
eyes shining in the darkness
a glorious night
The moon and the stars
light the way
movement signals adventure
as the trees sway
Crouching down
moving through the grass
a chase ensues
dinner is a rat
Tail swishing
paws in the stream
lapping up the cool water
then a playful dream
Jumping on a feeder
delicious midnight snack
swirling around the edges
slinging food on the rack
Dogs bark
another chase has begun
thrills in the night
exciting to be able to run
Almost dawn
time to return home
humans will never understand
the joy in being able to roam
