Close to a water fall
was a glorious fruit tree
filled with apples
a treat for me
Filling a bowl
taking it to my secret place
putting out a picnic spread
laying the apples next to a vase
All of the sudden
two squirrels were in a chase
scurrying across the blanket
items flew in the air with their haste
Stopping only a second
with a brief noise sounding like oops
they threw water from the water fall
using a plate as a loop
Birds got after them
coming too close to a nest
running along the rocks
a race at its best
Finally, exhausted from the play
too humid in the heat
one squirrel slid on a rock
admitting he was beat
Gathering my things
going to escape the heat of the day
laughing at the entertainment
as I went my way
