I entered a contest for
the conservation of tacky t shirts
in a valiant effort to stand out
I also wore a tie die skirt
After verifying my t shirt was authentic
I took the stage before a gawking crowd
there was applause and some boos
actually, quite loud
One of the voters in the audience
attempting to express his point
threw water on my shirt
while smoking a joint
As luck would have it, I
won the contest
the prize was a tacky trophy
that fit in with the rest
Those were the days
before the focus on fashion
fun and whimsical clothing
a tribute to expression
The trophy sits on a bookcase
for all to see
laughter a story of youth
feels the room with glee
