One last dance
on a May afternoon
soaked by the rain
singing to my favorite tune
Jumping in a puddle
not a care in the world
swirling around with an umbrella
fun for a little girl
Moving on is difficult
promoted to the seventh grade
positive the good times are over
no more cookies and lemonade
Leaving childhood
low expectations for the day
freedom to roam
imagination at play
Now a teenager
time to begin anew
slowly joining the adult world
where responsibilities grew
Did my life improve
it’s difficult to say
taking the good and bad
never did weigh
On a summer day
I still walk in the rain
occasionally jumping in a puddle
somehow it’s not the same

That’s a beautiful ode to childhood! I’m sure that’s the era I miss the most and the one the majority of people will pick!

Love this Debbie. Jumping in puddles at our age is not the same, and we tend to get funny looks.
Thanks for joining in.
Thank you. I agree. It’s not the same but sometimes those funny looks make my day. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day!
