Grace is a wonderful dog

playful and full of wonder

happy in all things

voice loud as thunder

Day and night

expressing her opinion

birds and a feral cat taunt her

challenging her dominion

In the morning

as the sun begins to rise

colors in the clouds

a canvas before her eyes

Serenading the sun

as if it were her lover

the neighborhood alarm

loud without a buffer

Need a snooze button

till the neighborhood is awake

preparing for school and work

they won’t be late

Learning to tell time

is beyond her understanding

in respect to the neighbors

she comes in after a minute of chanting
